I believe there is a difference between managers and leaders. My background in nursing is working in a retirement home. I find that the managers of each department , manage the day to day tasks. It is the general manager of the home that is the leader. Staff go to this person for broader issues that haven’t been dealt with from the manager.
I have also worked with some RN’s who have been leaders. The RN’s that I have worked with are very approachable and want you to achieve in your position. They are great to call upon for advice and are always willing to help if there is a task you are unsure of. That makes a great leader, someone you can rely upon. I find managers are good for some issues in the workplace, but it does take a great leader to make a workplace an environment you want to work in.
