Reservoirs: Typically rats and humans to a lesser degree.

Portals of Exit: Bites or scratches of rat or consumption of bush meat, coughing, sneezing and skin lesions.

Modes of Transmission: Aerosol and droplet, direct or indirect contact with infected animal and mechanical.

Portals of Entry:Mucous membranes, respiratory tract, or broken skin.

Susceptible Host: Newborns, children and people with underlying immune deficiencies.
