I have been asked, on occasion, by other nurses to help them with dressings or blood draws that they are unsure of how to complete. ie: complex dressing.
Some of these nurses are part of my management team. I am always happy to assist anyone. This affords them to opportunity to learn under supervision without having me just do it for them. A guide if you will. I also encourage my staff nurses to step out of their comfort zone, when I am present, and manage situations ( perhaps an uncomfortable phone call to a POA), under my supervision and encouragement. Giving them the opportunity to show their leadership and taking charge so to give them the confidence.
