With my expe working at LTC, one of the resident refuses to come out from his room to have meals at dining room. He states that he does not want to leave room because he does not feel comfortable to be around other people. RN nurse who is my supervisor/ leader asks me to find out why he does not wat to come out ,and feel that way. In this situation, I use active listening skill to find out more information. Listening is the most skill to assist me to have a better understanding about resident. As a result, resident does not feel comfortable around the female residents. I suggest the supervisor to exchange the table for resident that have only male resident. Supervisor agrees. Therefore, resident is happy for this changing , and he comes out from his room for meal. From this example,it allows me to work with the supervisor as a team and it helps me to understand the resident better in order to support his action.
