One leadership characteristic that I feel is important is the ability to dependable. I believe this sets a tone within the workplace and make the employees feel supported. Things can always go wrong and gets hectic but I think it gives a peace of mind to the employees to know that they will not be doing it alone if they know their leader is a dependable one. For example, If I was working on a day that is short and I have acute patients, my charge nurse demonstrates dependable characteristics by asking how she can help and is there to support me with questions or even to do some other task while I take a break, or assisting a patient. When ever I got to work and hear we are short I will not panic because I know that I will have the support from my charge nurse. If this was the case where I know that particular charge nurse does not like to assist her team, I will panic and possible make me not feel comfortable working a shift when she is on.
