Health teaching is a major part of our role as a nurse. Many times when I am doing health teaching I would make sure that I communicate with out the use of big medical terms. I try to keep it simple for the patients to understand. I would consider myself as a feeler. I remember a particular situation when one of patient just got a new diagnosis of cancer. As I was caring and talking to her, I find there were times I would touch her on her shoulder or hands. I believe that “touching” shows the patient that you empathize with them and most of the time, this action can strengthened the nurse-client therapeutic relationship.
