As much as I would like to say that I always follow IPAC practices, I know that there are also times where I get distracted and miss things. I found I have gotten into a good routine with my current job in a clinic, where the first thing I do after the client leaves the room is wiping everything down. It is such a simple thing for me to do but I find it makes a big difference as I know it has been done and won’t second guess it.
One recommendation I had brought up at my former workplace at a retirement home was that there should be more hand sanitizers on each floor. There were 20 rooms on each floor however there was only one hand sanitizer pump that was in the middle of each floor, and a lot of the times they were empty. This often led to staff skipping their hand hygiene as well as it not being accessible to residents or visitors.
