A productive work conflict I was involved in was visiting times for residents families during covid. The families would have to call the nursing office to book appointments to come in and visit. I was involved in some conflict with management as I stated the families should be calling reception and not the nursing office. At the beginning there was some push back from management, but I explained the nursing department doesn’t have time to answer the phone all the time to book families in as we are always on the floor and rarely on the office for prolonged periods of time. After the initial conflict the process of booking in families to see their family members was transfered to the front reception area and not the nursing office. It was a productive conflict, and took some of the work load off the nursing department.
