My reply is for Beverly and Jen. Social skills and confidence are gained by experience and knowledge. Good for both of you to recognize these are areas you are willing to work on. You will not be disappointed by “stepping outside your comfort zone”. Don’t think of conflict and a negative. Conflict can be good and the results can be positive. I am not a shy person ( I used to be), and though I am comfortable in social settings I empathize with those who are not. Through experience with conflict and resolution you will gain the confidence and experience to hone your skills and be able to confidently manage your team, take on difficult/uncomfortable situations and grow an strong nurses! Keep investing in yourselves, you are worth it.
