Synopsis:
June is Pride Month, and this webinar will focus on the role of practical nurses in ensuring patient-focused care for, and providing respectful person centred care to, persons of the 2SLGBTQI+ community who are in our care. Specifically addressed will include gender inclusivity and nursing assessments.
Our speaker:
James Philbey-Richards has been a Registered Practical Nurse for 13 years. His primary focus is Acute Medical, as well as Complex Care, Restorative & Slow Stream Rehabilitation. James is focused on person-centred care and is always thinking about what could improve a patient’s quality of life, keep their condition from getting worse, and help get them to where they would rather be. James also has experience in community nursing, bringing wellness into people’s homes.
James is committed to Continuous improvement through education, and the area of nursing I enjoy the most is wound care, having completed the International Interprofessional Wound Care Course (IIWCC). He is also currently working on achieving his Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
James advocates not only on behalf of patients but for his colleagues as well. James is a member of the Board of Directors for WeRPN, an opportunity that has allowed him to participate, learn, and drive change for the field of nursing in Ontario.
