Webinar: [Latch, Learn, Lead: Exploring Opportunities in Lactation Care]

[Designed for RPNs, this webinar will introduce the IBCLC credential and the steps involved in pursuing certification in lactation care. Attendees will gain insight into the important role RPNs play within collaborative healthcare teams and how partnering with IBCLCs and other professionals can strengthen breastfeeding support and improve outcomes for families.] [Laura Patterson, IBCLC became passionate about breastfeeding support after her own struggles with breastfeeding. She met her goals with the collective support of her midwives and her International Board Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLCs). Previously she worked as a Chemist for a large pharmaceutical company.
She graduated from a Lactation Medicine Program where she completed a comprehensive and rigorous clinical placement, and, as part of her training, attained over 500 hours of clinical experience working with breastfeeding/chest feeding families under the direct supervision of IBCLCs and pediatricians. Since obtaining her IBCLC certification in 2017, Laura has worked in diverse clinical settings, including a large breastfeeding clinic, a pediatric clinic, private practice and is currently the full-time IBCLC at Black Creek Community Health Centre in North York.
Laura has been the President of the Canadian Lactation Consultant Association since 2024 and is currently working with the Breastfeeding Committee of Canada on the Community BFI – Collaboration for Black Creek CHC. She is a volunteer reviewer for Accreditation Canada.]
