Hi all, my name is Norma Tomlin, and I am the director of professional practice here at WeRPN, and I will be co-facilitating this course with my colleague Marilyn Oliver. I have been an RPN for 30-plus years and have both a bachelor’s and a master’s in health administration. I started my career in private rehab clinics and spent 15 years in community care. I have also worked as a case manager at the CARE centre for internationally educated nurses before joining WeRPN in 2016 as a practice associate. I have always been very passionate about supporting nurses and am very proud to be an RPN. Additionally, I am a mother of three sons, 24, 21, and 18, and recently, both my spouse and I have retired from being full-time hockey parents! While one of our sons works in hockey and the other plays college hockey, we are no longer tied to the rinks and are starting to enjoy our free time again! I am excited to get to know you all and look forward to the next eight weeks of learning together.

      Hi,
My name is Katrina. I work in long term care for about 14 years. I worked my way up, by starting as a PSW to RPN and now a Quality Improvement nurse for the last 2 years. I am very excited to improve my leadership skills in my current role and overall gain knowledge that I can apply everyday as a nurse.

Hello, my name is Samantha. I currently work as a Nurse Case Manager in the private care sector and I have been in this role for two years. I previously worked in LTC for a good period of time. Because I hold a leadership role now, I am looking to expand and learn new techniques, as my day-to-day is direct management of PSWs and caregivers. My focus is to ensure we are following care plans I have created for our clients and meeting the expectations of care. My goal is to build a culture of confidence and trust within my team, because I truly believe that when our caregivers and PSWs feel supported and empowered, our clients see the best possible health outcomes.

      Hello! My name is Jamie.
I’m an RPN working for a community health center, specifically in an HIV and Gender Affirming Care clinic.
I love my work and clientele, and I’m looking to improve my ability to advocate for my clients and my clinic through leadership skills.
I’m hoping to improve my communication skills in order to portray better leadership qualities as well.
My clinic relies on a lot of donation and grants and I think leadership skills should help me be a better part in advocating for these things to help my clinic run smoothly and give our clients the care that they need.
