Hi everyone! My name is Kiran. I have been an RPN for about 7 years and have worked in settings including assisted living, long term care, telehealth, and travel health. I love to cook, bake, hike, and craft- I have recently started learning how to water paint and find it so relaxing! I am taking this course as a furtherance to another Leadership series course I took with weRPN in 2022. I had special interest in this course as I have noticed many nursing roles being listed as “RN/RPN” across different sectors and settings, and wanted to explore and learn more about the most notable key differences between the two roles, and how I can maximize my scope of practice as an RPN to best serve client care needs.
During this course, I hope to answer the question of what has changed in the RPN scope of practice since the Ministry of Health approved changes to the Nursing Act, 1991 in 2023 -mainly seeking to understand how the RPN’s scope has “increased” and under what circumstances and settings can these changes be utilized?
Typo- should read “changes under**” not “changes to”. Thanks!
Good Morning All, I’m Samantha Diceman RPN since 1997. I have worked in several different practice settings over the many years of practice- acute, hospice/palliate care LTC. LTC is my passion and where I have found the most rewarding nursing. I have been working in a leadership role ( Manager, Resident Care) since 2012 in a large LTC facility. I am co-leading a project at our facility this year focusing on scope and competencies, this lead me to this WeRPN course. Looking forward to collaborating and sharing of ideas.
Good afternoon, my name is Megan. I have been an RPN for 5 years now but was previously a PSW for 6 years. I have worked in all different settings, but currently working in a community setting as a Care Coordinator for the Home and Community Care Program. My interest in taking this course was because working along side RN, I have noticed we have mostly the same role, but wanting to understand the full extent of the RPN role and wanting to know the defined differences in our roles and also the extent of the maximization of the RPN role.

Hello Everyone,
It’s a pleasure to meet you all, and we have a diverse group of accomplished RPNs here. I’m a member of WeRPN in professional practice and will be co-facilitating this course with @Brenda. I look forward to our conversations and the learning ahead.
Good afternoon.
I have been a RPN since 2000. During my time as a RPN i have worked in a variety of settings. The role has definitely expanding. Our role has evolved however many employers are still blurred with what our abilities to practice are.
